Managing to the Important Priorities

The format we discussed for this and the other topics was: "What the Lord has said (through scriptures and prophets" --- Managing to the Important Priorities --- How we can use this information to strengthen our marriages.

  1. Example me in the last few months: I was able to travel to UT for 3 days of intense wedding planning, sew 4 bridesmaids dresses, plan/create the decorations & determine the food for a reception and family luncheon for Danielle’s Dec 22 wedding; help plan of a family reunion when my parents came home from their 2 year mission on Dec 15 & all 8 of my siblings & their families arrived in Beaverton for the festivities & Christmas. With the help of my family & friends all these extra things were started and completed in just 2 months. Christmas came & somehow everyone had gifts and stockings. I also had many additional responsibilities with my calling due to the holiday seasons of Nov/Dec and work as the year was coming to a close.
I know I made it through all of these many things because I was blessed with helium in many of the other balls I have in the air. I must confess, I also started juggling like a man just to ‘keep it all together’.
As a result, a few of the dropped balls didn’t get picked back up as soon as I wanted, but the world did not come to an end: the kitchen floor did not get mopped before all of our family arrived at Christmas for the wedding, the other housecleaning was done to the standards of our 12 year-old son and 14 year-old daughter (not necessarily mine). I did not do as much visiting to sisters in Dec as I normally do- my counselors & secretary picked up more of those. I forgot to buy eggnog in mid-Dec, and no one disowned me when the stores were out the week of Christmas. Jeff fixed breakfast most mornings in Nov/Dec as I was up late working on wedding things most nights after finishing my work, family, & calling responsibilities (I haven’t picked that ball back up yet- he is juggling it very well on his own!)
